"Milton Davis has opened the door to African mystical fantasy through his powerful storytelling in his Meji series. Meji is presently a two book ride through African history, folklore and mythology; built around two strong and endearing protagonists, Ndoro and Obaseki. Ndoro and Obaseki are twins born to the Sesu Inkosi Dingane. But Sesu tradition frowns upon twins as an abomination. In Book One, Ndoro and Obaseki are separated, in order to spare their lives. Ndoro is raised Sesu, and Obaseki is raised by his mother’s people the Mawena. Each grows into adulthood disgraced and alienated. Ndoro the warrior and Obaseki the mystic use their gifts, given to them by the ancestors to earn respect and cut their own way in a world not quite ready for their brand of doing business. In Book Two, each twins’ gift grows and flourishes, finally placing them as leaders of their own separate kingdoms that rival both the Sesu and the Mawena kingdoms. Eventually, two will become one.

Remarkable Story! I am very excited about what Milton Davis has done with Meji. I ripped through the books and couldn't put them down. Milton Davis is a fantastic and powerful writer. His character building of Ndoro and Obaseki are masterful and magical. The reader rides on their motivations and pushes through each challenge with them. Milton Davis makes the reader feel his characters’ pain and understand their anger. That is truly an amazing talent for a writer. Meji hits all the right cylinders. Great job...I hope there is more!

One of the best fantasy tales I've ever read. Besides having all the ingredients that makes up an exciting action adventure story, the Meji series has great, well developed, well thought out characters. The sorcery ranges from enchanting to terrifying, the battle scenes are masterpieces of tactical detail and the settings are magical and majestic.
Meji I introduced us to twin brothers who were separated at birth due to the rigors of tradition. Meji II follows the paths they embarked upon on epic quests guided by destiny.
I waited a year for the sequel to Meji I. The wait was well worth it. Milton Davis has written a brilliant story, one that deserves a place alongside the works of Tolkien, Howard and of course our very own Charles Saunders!!

"Ok, Let me start by saying this is a great book...and I am not exaggerating when I say this is one the best works of fiction I have ever read. The book came at the perfect time...I was just starting a three day vacation and the kids are all back in school already. So I opened the book and decide that I'm going to read one chapter and call it a day. By the end of chapter one I was left breathless...by the end of chapter 3 I couldn't take any more. All I can say is you took me places I did not expect you to go. Your build up of these characters are amazing. You are literally watching these characters grow right in front of your eyes. Brilliant writing! Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant! You have ghost and monsters, Witch doctors coming back from the dead and wars. And how you weave the brothers stories together...I felt like they were two negative and positive Ions gravitating towards each other.

I'm not going to say anything more than get the book if you have not done so already. Get the book get the book get the book. For all the writers on here this brother takes us to school on how to paint a vivid picture with out images. Amazing stuff....really amazing.

"This fantasy is set in an alternate (Iron Age) Africa. The various tribes and their cultures are very well developed, and the effect of culture on personality and goals shows through well. Lots of action. The African-influenced setting (as opposed to the common medieval Europe setting) makes this book fresh and unpredictable."

"Meji is a fantastic, mystifying bewildering journey with pulse-pounding action, vivid descriptions and moral dilemmas. "

"So what do I think of Meji? In a word, I think it's excellent. It combines the best qualities of heroic and epic fantasy...an epic as sweeping as any multi-volume fantasy saga..."

"Milton Davis has created a wonderfully unique world in Meji that carried me into its magic and lush story. I fell in love with the characters and world. He has an elegant and intriguing writing style that made it easy to read and sad to finish. I look forward to more."

"Reading Meji took me to a place that I forgot was a part of me. I was transported to a place in my mind where larger than life epic adventures live. With each passing word, I was comfortably put in a world that was visually stunning, vastly populated, and filled with colors and sounds; only I was reading Meji."

I just finished Meji I by Milton Davis and what a ride! Milton has skillfully blended African mythology, sorcery and history to create a seductive world unfolding upon lush, exotic landscapes. His characters are powerful -- yet believable -- and the plot twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat until the final page. Meji I is the read of the summer.

Milton,

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed Meji, Book I. Uhuru was a breathtaking expanse of stunning grasslands, dangerous jungles, modest villages, and wondrous empires. My favorite characters were Ndoro, Chimela, Jelani, Shani, and Azana. I admired them all in different ways and for different reasons. I hated so many others, but grew to respect them in spite of my disdain. I have to say the Mawena were my favorite people. Their regality seemed unmatched by all and their cunning minds were to be patterned after.

I loved your sentence variation and your beautiful imagery. The characters were developed beautifully. Meji was much like a many layered cake, rich and satisfying. I savored every moment. This was not a fly through in one night easy read. Meji was thought provoking and dense. Each chapter literally had to be savored and pondered over. I cannot wait until Book II. You are truly an awesome writer that I admire and look up to.
